Directions and Parking

The Cathedral Church of St. Paul is located at 4800 Woodward in the Detroit Cultural Center Area across from Wayne State University. A lighted, monitored parking lot is behind the Diocesan Cathedral Center. It is entered via a one way alley — Cathedral Lane — from east-bound Warren Avenue.

Entry into the building during regular business hours is through the main entrance on Cathedral Lane. During Sunday services, the front door of the Cathedral on Woodward Avenue is also open.

Entry from the parking lot is barrier-free. Handicap parking is available on Cathedral Lane in marked spaces. Within the Cathedral, there are several pews with extra space in the middle of the nave. Communion is offered at the Great Crossing at the moment, and is barrier-free. The Pewabic Tile flooring is original to the building, and is slightly uneven. Restrooms are available to all, including a large, private, facility on the first floor. An elevator is available to reach classroom, office, and rehearsal space in the Diocesan-Cathedral center. From the West or Northwest side via I-94 or I-96:

Travel to/on eastbound I-94 to the Lodge Southbound Exit. From the Lodge, immediately exit at Forest/Warren. Turn left on the turnabout and follow the service drive north to Warren Avenue. Turn right on Warren (East) and travel about ½ mile to Woodward Avenue. The Cathedral is on the far (southeast) corner, and the (one-way) access to the parking and building is a right turn on Cathedral Lane is just past the Woodward intersection off of Warren.

From the East side via I-94:

Travel on westbound I-94 to the Brush/Woodward Exit (just past I-75). Stay on the service drive for three intersections. Turn left (south) on John R and travel about 3/4 mile to Warren Avenue. Turn right onto Warren and immediately into your left turn lane. Just before the next intersection (Woodward Avenue) turn left across Warren on to Cathedral Lane, before the traffic light. (Do not turn at the intersection of Woodward.) The Cathedral is on the southeast corner of Warren and Woodward, and the one-way access to the parking and building is Cathedral Lane off of Warren just east the Woodward intersection.

From the North side via I-75:

Travel on I-75 southbound to the Warren Avenue exit (just past the I-94 exit). Turn right on Warren (west). Getting into your left lane, travel through three intersections. Just before the next intersection (Woodward Avenue) turn left across Warren Avenue on to Cathedral Lane, before the traffic light. (Do not turn at the intersection of Woodward.) The Cathedral is on the southeast corner of Warren and Woodward, and the one-way access to the parking and building is Cathedral Lane off of Warren just east the Woodward intersection.
