Living Testimonies: Stewarding Our Stories
“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…” — Revelation 12:11
Dear Friends in Christ,
Every person in our Cathedral community carries a testimony. Some stories are joyful; others are marked by hardship, healing, perseverance, or renewal. Yet through every season, God remains faithful. This year, our stewardship theme, Living Testimonies: Stewarding Our Stories, reminds us that stewardship is about more than finances — it is about the story God is writing through each of our lives and the story we share together as the Cathedral Church of St. Paul.
Our stewardship helps make possible the ministries that bring that story to life: beautiful worship and music, pastoral care and healing prayer, Eucharistic visitation, Christian formation through Education for Ministry, Open Cathedral hospitality, and outreach to our neighbors. Through ministries such as the Cathedral Choir School, CHIP’s Sunday medical clinic, Cathedral Crafters and the Warmth Project, and our partnerships throughout Detroit, St. Paul’s carries Christ’s love beyond our walls. Stewardship allows us to look beyond simply maintaining what we have and ask: What is God calling the Cathedral to become? Our pledges help us strengthen the ministries already bearing fruit while creating room for new possibilities — deeper formation, greater outreach, stronger partnerships, and new ways of welcoming people into the life of Christ and the life of this Cathedral.
A pledge is therefore not simply about supporting a building or balancing a budget. It is a way of saying, “I believe in what God is doing here, and I want to be part of what God is doing next.” Every gift, prayer, hour of service, and act of generosity becomes part of our collective testimony.
As we enter the 2027 stewardship season, we invite you to prayerfully consider your pledge and how you can help us continue growing as a Cathedral of worship, welcome, healing, formation, music, service, and witness in the heart of Detroit. Please join us for our Stewardship Celebration Brunch on In-Gathering Sunday, following the 11am service on November 1st at 12:30 p.m. in Barth Hall. We will gather to celebrate our Cathedral family, share fellowship, reflect on the ministries God has entrusted to us, and look with hope toward the year ahead. Together, may we continue to live as faithful stewards of the stories God has entrusted to us—and may the Cathedral Church of St. Paul continue to be a place where those stories become living testimonies to the love of Christ.
