Tobit 4:6–11 “Those who act in almsgiving will be blessed. For almsgiving delivers from death, and it will purge away every sin. Those who practice it will have fullness of life.”
Dear Cathedral Church of St. Paul Family,
Grace and peace to you. As members of the Stewardship Committee, we are once again filled with deep gratitude for your faithful support and generosity. Your commitment has allowed St. Paul’s to remain a beacon of refuge, worship, and witness in the heart of Midtown Detroit—a place where God’s light continues to shine through our giving.
Our theme for this year is Rooted in Righteousness: Giving That Endures, inspired by Tobit 4:6–11. These ancient and powerful words speak directly to the heart of our mission:
“Perform good works all the days of your life, and do not proceed in the ways of wrongdoing… Give alms from your possessions to all who live uprightly, and do not let your eye begrudge the gift when you give it. Do not turn your face away from any of the poor, so that God’s face will not be turned away from you… For almsgiving delivers from death and keeps you from going into the darkness. Indeed, almsgiving, for all who practice it, is an excellent offering in the presence of the Most High.”
In this passage, we are reminded that our giving is not simply an act of charity—it is a sacred offering that pleases God. Almsgiving, as Tobit tells his son, brings life, delivers from death, and turns our hearts toward righteousness. It is a response to God’s abundant love and a way of participating in the divine work of restoration and mercy.
Each time you give—whether time, talent, or financial support—you are part of that holy work. Stewardship enables our cathedral to remain a place of welcome and worship, to extend care to the vulnerable, and to nurture the spiritual life of future generations. Through your generosity, we see God’s face reflected in community, compassion, and courage.
As we enter this new season, we invite you to renew your commitment to St. Paul’s mission. Rooted in God’s righteousness, we can continue to grow in grace, extend our ministries, and stand as a witness to the hope that is found in Christ. Let us offer our gifts joyfully and trust that they will be received as an excellent offering in the presence of the Most High.
Thank you for your unwavering faith, love, and support. With you, our light shines brightly.
Blessings,
Stewardship Committee
